That’s what Japan and South Korea bring to East Asia’s balance of power

Tokyo Nancy Pelosi’s visit to Taiwan raises tensions in East Asia. But the crisis is just the latest example of growing tensions in the region, as evidenced by the number of maneuvers. Chinese and Russian warships and planes were still circling US allies Japan in June. However, Japan and Korea are by no means passive in the face of such displays of power. They are demonstrating with their own maneuvers that they do not want to accept the military-strategic supremacy of China and Russia in their region of the world.
