Munich, Dusseldorf The first wind turbines in the 1990s measured just 50 meters. Today the turbines reach up to 150 meters into the sky. In the early days, a wind turbine could only supply 133 households with electricity for a year, today it is over 20,000. The technical development of wind power is rapid. But it comes at a price.

The turbine manufacturer Siemens Gamesa in particular is currently feeling the effects. “The industry would be well advised to check whether this ‘ever faster, ever higher, ever further’ makes sense,” says industry circles. At some point you will reach the physical limits.
