Chips, one of the most critical hardware of technological devices, became known by everyone after the production was insufficient after the coronavirus epidemic. Developed countries continue to invest in the chip crisis, which caused major crises in automobile production as well as electronic devices.

In this regard, there is very good news from our country. TÜBİTAK and Qatar Hamad Bin Khalifa University are collaborating to establish a chip manufacturing facility at the TÜBİTAK Gebze campus. Immediately after, IDEA INCUBATION, the incubation center of Marmara Teknokent, will be opened.

Chip production facility being established

The machinery park required for the establishment of the chip production line will be provided by HBKU. TÜBİTAK BİLGEM will be responsible for the construction and operation of the production facility and clean rooms.

Chip production will start in a year in the facility, which has a clean area of ​​2000 square meters. There will also be R&D and product development opportunities at the Chip Production Facility. In addition to the production of critical technologies that our country and Qatar need, commercialization in domestic and foreign markets will be ensured.

Incubation center IDEA INCUBATION opens

IDEA INCUBATION, which is the incubation center of Marmara Teknokent, which offers a very modern working environment to entrepreneurs, has common working areas called Co-working. The center, which is built on a total area of ​​1000 square meters, has a capacity of 80 incubation enterprises.

Two programs, incubation and pre-incubation, are carried out at Idea Incubation. Currently, 38 companies are operating within the scope of the Incubation program for companies that have an R&D project at most 3 years after the company was established.

Evaluation processes of 9 companies continue. These companies mainly operate in software and informatics sectors. In the pre-incubation program, there are entrepreneurs, mainly students, who have not yet moved from the idea stage to the project stage and have not become a company.

In line with a training plan, all the trainings that will be needed in the entrepreneurial journey, from entrepreneurship to patent processes, from company establishment to marketing processes, are provided. Patent support and consultancy are also offered to entrepreneurs. In addition, entrepreneurs can benefit from the office and mentorship opportunities that are open 24/7 for free.

As part of the pre-incubation program, 42 entrepreneurs develop their ideas in the incubation centre.
