Cryptocurrency There have always been cases of fraud in the industry, but this time the story is much more surprising and also a scary one about what technologies and tools the fraudsters can try now. According to recent reports, a group of hackers used a tool known as AI Hologram to impersonate Binance Communications Chief (CCO) Patrick Hillmann. With this tool, Hillmann’s face was faked using “deep fake” technology.
The hacker group imitated Hillmann’s face and made video calls with some altcoin projects and talked about the possibility of their projects being listed on Binance. Patrick Hilmann commented on the events in question and warned against scammers.
Scammers may have had success using this method, although Hillmann did not disclose details of which cryptocurrency projects were targeted or the funds invested for the alleged listing services.
Binance Its CCO also noted that they have identified an increase in this type of impersonation scam on various social media platforms on the internet. In this regard, Hillmann said:
“Beyond the last event; Twitter, LinkedIn, Telegram etc. There has been a recent increase in hackers pretending to be Binance employees and managers on platforms. We are ready to defend our users and our ecosystem, but you must be careful.”
Binance’s listings do not involve third parties in any way and applications can only be made from the relevant application page. Additionally, Binance does not charge a fixed listing fee from these projects.
