Samsung will use recycling material in its new devices
In a blog post today, Samsung announced that a new plastic material will be showcased, which will be used in the company’s various technological devices and other products. He also said it would come from many recycled materials, particularly fishing nets found in the ocean.
Samsung did not reveal exactly which devices will use the recycled material produced from this new fishing net. However, he says he will reveal more details about this material at its Unpacked event on February 9. Therefore, it may appear in the Galaxy Tab S8 or S22 series.
In a statement on the subject, the company said:
Now and in the future, Samsung will reuse ocean-bound plastics across our entire product line, starting with our new Galaxy devices that will be unveiled on February 9 at Unpacked. These devices will reflect our ongoing efforts to eliminate single-use plastics and promote the use of other environmentally responsible materials such as recycled post-consumer material (PCM) and recycled paper. With this transformation, the future of Galaxy technology will bring leading product designs and better environmental impact.
According to information shared by The Nature Conservancy and the University of California, in 2021 alone, more than 50 million kilograms of plastic pollution has occurred in the ocean from fishing gear and nets.
Correspondingly, the spread of microplastics has been reported to contribute to problems such as habitat damage and unintentional capture of marine life. In fact, another report suggests that more than 640 tons of fishing nets are thrown away each year.
