Samsung has hiked smartphone prices!

It was expected to increase due to the global chip and cable crisis, problems in the supply chain, and the Ukraine-Russia war. However, we see the effect of this more because of the constantly increasing dollar exchange rate and the increase in taxes in our country.

So much so that as of the day we entered June, almost all of the automobile companies announced a price increase of up to 20 percent. Now, we are faced with a similar situation in smartphone prices. Samsung has increased phone prices, especially the Galaxy S22 model.

Samsung has hiked phone prices!

We see phone prices constantly increasing and decreasing due to stock changes at 3rd party vendors such as Amazon and Hepsiburada. They also reflect possible hikes on prices instantly. But now we encounter similar confusions on the brands’ own sites. We see the biggest examples of this situation more clearly in Xiaomi and Samsung, which brought many devices to our country.

Let’s start with today’s hike. The price of the Galaxy S22 model has been increased from 15 thousand 999 TL to 16 thousand 999 TL. In other words, the increase in the TRT Bandrol fee and the increase in the exchange rate directly affected the price of this device. However, the other two models of the series, S22+, are sold for 22 thousand 999 TL, and S22 Ultra, with prices starting from 25 thousand 999 TL, without being affected by the hike.

Everything seems normal so far. However, there are some inconsistencies between the prices at which other devices were sold in the past and their current prices. For example, the S21 Ultra 5G model had a tag of 19 thousand 999 TL in the past period. We see that its price has decreased over time and it has been sold for 18 thousand 999 TL. However, the S21+ 5G model increased from 12 thousand 499 TL to 16 thousand 999 TL in the same period.

When the S21 FE 5G first came out, it had a tag of 13 thousand 999 TL. It is currently on sale for 12 thousand 999 TL. Similarly, the S20 FE price dropped from 11 thousand 999 TL to 8 thousand 999 TL in a period of a month or two. While Z Flip3 kept its prices of 17 thousand 999 TL and Z Fold 2 19 thousand 999 TL, Z Fold 3 increased from 25 thousand 999 TL to 29 thousand 999 TL. Of course, it should be noted that these price changes in devices other than the S22 model took place gradually, not today, but within 1-2 months.

Let’s take a look at the short-term price changes of the A and M series of the best-selling models. M22, which is among the popular devices, was sold for 2 thousand 999 TL earlier this year. However, after the M33 was released, the price of this device increased to 4 thousand 199 TL.

However, while the M52 model was sold for 5 thousand 299 TL in the same period, it is currently sold for 5 thousand 499 TL. In other words, the high rate of increase that we are used to seeing in higher-priced models is the opposite of what is expected here. The affordable model of the series is 1,200 TL, the expensive one is 200 TL.

For this reason, a consumer who does not constantly monitor the prices of all devices may find it very difficult to understand which model has been increased, which has been discounted or sold at the same price. We think that they should be a little more descriptive in their campaigns.

For example, at the end of last March, Samsung offered the version of the S21 FE model with 256 GB storage at a more affordable price than 128 GB. Although this was thought to be a mistake at first, it turned out that it was actually turned into a nice campaign due to stock situations.

However, consumers who are not aware of this situation may have preferred 128 GB when purchasing, thinking that it would be appropriate. For this reason, it should be noted that there is no price increase in the S22+, S22 Ultra and Tab S8, S8+ and S8 Ultra models, except for the S22 model.
