Frankfurt Mr. Rollinger, some time ago you said that you would recommend your children to take out life insurance for their old age. Given the high inflation rates, could you still do that with a clear conscience today?
Investors currently have to live with negative real interest everywhere – except perhaps for very risky investments. Unfortunately that is a fact. The development of stocks and bonds has not been outstanding so far this year either. Life insurance is by no means the only form of investment with negative real returns. I believe that life insurance is a smart investment, with stable, calculable returns and also with important pension qualities that no fund savings plan can offer, such as death protection.
