Sputnik and RT are removed to avoid bias
Sanctions against Russia and Russian institutions from all over the world continue to increase. Apple and Google have made a decision to prevent Russia from making news to justify its war. Thus, the mobile applications of Russia Today (RT) and Sputnik, supported by the Russian state, were removed from the Play Store and App Store.
It wasn’t just Apple and Google that blocked these two news channels. YouTube blocked RT and Sputnik’s channels for making pro-Russian news. YouTube officials, who think that generating income through the platform is unacceptable in this situation, stated that Russia’s disinformation has been tolerated for years.
In particular, Apple imposes heavy sanctions on Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. The company completely pulled its products from the Russian market, while blocking Russian users from the App Store. Yesterday, the CEO of the company, Tim Cook, published a message for the Ukrainian team members and announced that they are ready to provide any assistance.
