Karlsruhe The Attorney General is now also investigating possible Russian war crimes in Ukraine. Federal Minister of Justice Marco Buschmann (FDP) told the “Passauer Neue Presse” (Tuesday) that he had initiated a so-called structure investigation procedure.

According to information from the German Press Agency, the Karlsruhe authorities have concrete evidence that war crimes have already been committed. The investigators also fear that there will be more crimes, it said.

In a structural investigation procedure, the first step is to secure as much evidence as possible without specific suspects. This information will later be used to hold individuals criminally responsible.
