Frankfurt The continuing fear of a recession due to drastic interest rate hikes by the US Federal Reserve continues to weigh on the US stock exchanges. The Dow Jones index of standard values closed 1.1 percent lower on Monday at 29,260 points. The tech-heavy Nasdaq fell 0.6 percent to 10,802 points. The broad S&P 500 lost one percent to 3655 points. Last week, the Fed’s latest signal that high interest rates could last into 2023 sent the three major US stock indexes down 4% to 5%.
