Dusseldorf The answer was extremely short: “Sch…!” That was Christian Henne’s first reaction when he heard that federal funding for efficient building was to be stopped immediately. Luckily, he was certain that his application had been submitted in good time by the energy consultant and that the property developer had guaranteed the “Efficiency House 55” standard in the notary contract.
The term stands for a house that consumes only 55 percent of the energy consumption of primary energy compared to a standard house. “Nevertheless, we got nervous,” says Henne, who runs a management consultancy in Munich and plans to move from his rented house in Gauting to his own home in Landsberg am Lech in 2023. The cost of achieving the standard compared to conventional construction can easily run into five figures.
