If you want to save money, you can also rent a system.

Solar energy is booming: around 90,000 new photovoltaic systems (PV systems) were installed in June alone, according to statistics from the Federal Network Agency. If you don’t want to invest thousands of euros in one fell swoop, you can rent a solar system for your own roof.

“Roughly speaking, I would estimate that ten to 20 percent of the newly installed systems on private residential properties are currently rented,” says Jörg Sutter, Managing Director of the German Society for Solar Energy (DGS). In addition to nationwide companies such as Enpal, DZ4 and Eigensonne, providers of such rental systems now also include individual municipal utilities.

Rental offers for PV systems spread the cost burden

The basic features of their model are similar: the company takes on the planning and installation of the solar system and ensures its operation for a contractually agreed term. The homeowner pays monthly rent for this.
