Teaches how to be prepared for a possible earthquake

Developed with the contributions of ITU Disaster Management Institute faculty members and pedagogues, the application interactively teaches what needs to be done to keep both yourself and your loved ones safe in a possible earthquake.

‘Drill’, which teaches the ways to stay safe in an earthquake, is an educational game application that appeals to everyone from 7 to 70. The exercise consists of 3 phases: ‘Earthquake preparation, earthquake moment and post-earthquake’. At each stage, the game is completed by fulfilling different tasks aimed at raising awareness about earthquakes.

A social responsibility project developed on a voluntary basis

Burçin Cafer, General Manager of Petrolig Games, said, “Right after the earthquakes, the Petroleum Office took action to assist the region in order to continue the search and rescue and debris removal activities in the disaster area. In our country, where the reality of earthquakes cannot be denied, it has become important to create long-term and permanent solutions that will shed light on the future and prevent damage caused by earthquakes, and to create earthquake awareness in the society.

We, as a part of Petrol Ofisi Group and as a game technologies company, started to think about what we can do about this issue and we created Exercise. The project was implemented in a very short time with the voluntary participation of our friends and a sense of social responsibility. We consulted with consultant pedagogues and valuable faculty members at ITU Disaster Management Institute about the relevance and validity of the information in our application.

We hope that we will not face such a great disaster as a country again. May God have mercy on our citizens who lost their lives in earthquakes; We offer our condolences to their families and our nation, and wish a speedy recovery to the injured.” The drill can be downloaded for free from the App Store and Google Play.
