Frankfurt Lose weight without starvation diets or exercise? This is probably a dream of many overweight people, and the pharmaceutical industry is feeding this dream. In the USA, hype has broken out about the drug Ozempic from the Danish pharmaceutical company Novo Nordisk. Ozempic is a diabetes medication. But the active ingredient semaglutide promotes weight loss.

Novo Nordisk only researched the weight loss effect in more detail about two years ago and last summer released a diet drug called Wegovy with a higher dosage of the active ingredient. However, Wegovy had delivery problems, so those wanting to lose weight increasingly turned to Ozempic, which is administered by injection once a week. In the USA, the drug, which actually works against diabetes, advanced to become a lifestyle product.
