In the USA, hype has broken out about the drug Ozempic from the Danish pharmaceutical company Novo Nordisk. Ozempic is a diabetes medication. But the active ingredient semaglutide promotes weight loss.
Novo Nordisk only researched the weight loss effect in more detail about two years ago and last summer released a diet drug called Wegovy with a higher dosage of the active ingredient. However, Wegovy had delivery problems, so those wanting to lose weight increasingly turned to Ozempic, which is administered by injection once a week. In the USA, the drug, which actually works against diabetes, advanced to become a lifestyle product.
