Rostock The wind turbine manufacturer Nordex is examining the future of its Rostock production sites – the only ones in Germany. The management informed the works councils that changes were being considered in this regard, said Stefan Schad, managing director of the IG-Metall trade union in Rostock and Schwerin.
The statement was that no final decision had been made. First, the “Ostsee-Zeitung” reported on a possible relocation of production capacities abroad.
Nordex said it checked core processes regularly. “This also includes our production and procurement processes.” One does not participate in speculation. The Schwerin Ministry of Economic Affairs stated that “there is no official decision yet. We are in talks with the company.”
According to a company spokesman, Nordex on Thursday informed workers’ representatives at the nacelle plant in La Vall d’Uixó, Spain, that the company is considering ceasing production at the site.
