After a long and successful cooperation, in 2021 ZEISS and HMD Global mutually agreed not to extend their non-exclusive partnership, which includes cooperation with ZEISS as a consulting and development partner for the display technologies of “Nokia” branded smartphones.
The last product of the partnership, which ended in 2022, was XR20. No explanation has been made from either brand as to why the partnership of the partnership did not continue. Since HMD Global took over, Nokia branded phones have not stood out for their camera features. Nevertheless, the company managed to make a name for itself in the smartphone market with models such as the Nokia 9 PureView, which was among the best camera phones of its time.
