New speed record from Turkcell: 59 Gbps in a fiber fiber!
Turkcell successfully completed the 50GPON test carried out in cooperation with Huawei. 50GPON, which is the latest point of PON (Passive Optical Network) technology tested by Turkcell, which introduced light-speed fiber to Turkey, supports speeds of 50 gigabits per second. This technology will play an important role in meeting the 5G and beyond communication infrastructure needs of individual or corporate customers as well as in the future.
With the 50GPON record attempt, Turkcell reinforced its technology leadership by adding a new investment to the digital future. In the 50GPON tests conducted at Turkcell’s test laboratory in Kartal, a speed of 42 Gbps was achieved in the downstream (download) direction, while a speed of 17 Gbps was recorded in the upstream (upload) direction. Thus, a total speed of 59 Gbps was achieved using a single equipment and a single fiber strand.
