Mercedes kept its promise: Vision EQXX traveled 1008 kilometers on a single charge!

Before the last CES 2022 fair, Mercedes Benz introduced the concept Vision EQXX car, which can travel 1,000 kilometers on a single charge and can be charged with solar energy. With this model, the company aimed to achieve the title of the longest-range electric car. As a matter of fact, he kept his word with the latest tests.

Mercedes unveils electric concept vehicle with a range of 1000 kilometers

Mercedes introduced its new concept electric car, the Vision EQXX, at the event it held before the CES 2022 fair today.

Mercedes Vision EQXX put the shoe of EQS on the check!

With its new concept electric car Vision EQXX with a sporty, stylish and futuristic design, Mercedes plans to compete head-to-head with other luxury electric vehicles such as Porsche Taycan, Audi E-tron GT and Tesla Roadster.

The company claimed that it based its range estimates on a simulation of real-life traffic conditions and would consume 10 kWh per 100 kilometers, that is, it could travel 10 kilometers per kWh. Translated into fossil fuel consumption terms, this equates to 235 miles per gallon or 1 liter of gasoline per 100 kilometers in the US. In other words, it corresponds to 1 in 5 of even the least burning diesel vehicles on the market.

To put this in perspective, Mercedes was stating that 10kWh is equivalent to using a clothes dryer or air conditioning unit for three hours, or watching 50 hours of television on a 50-inch LED screen. As a matter of fact, according to the test results carried out today -including in areas with urban traffic-, Vision EQXX has made the claims true by traveling 1008 kilometers on a single charge.

Mercedes says it achieves this energy efficiency not by cramming a huge battery under the floor of the vehicle, but by considering all aspects of powertrain efficiency, energy density, aerodynamics and lightweight design.

Moreover, although it is a direct competitor to sports cars, the Vision EQXX, which falls into the SUV category in terms of volume, weighs only 1,750 kilograms. It should be noted that a large part of this load belongs to the batteries that hold approximately 100 kWh of energy.

In addition, Mercedes says the batteries it uses in this vehicle take up half the space of those found in the Mercedes-Benz EQS sedan electric car and are 30 percent lighter in mass.
