BYD Seagull goes on sale in Europe! Here is the price

Chinese automotive giant BYD is on the agenda with its decision to bring its cheapest electric car to Europe. Although it has not been officially introduced yet, BYD’s $10,000 Seagull electric vehicle has already managed to become a sensation with its cheap price.

Earlier this year, BYD declared a war of liberation against gasoline-powered vehicles and launched its cheapest electric vehicle, the Seagull Honor Edition.

BYD’s new Seagull electric vehicle has already started to cause concern among its competitors with its starting price of $ 9,700 (312,516 TL). Powered by BYD’s Blade batteries, the electric car is offered in 30.08 kWh and 38.88 kWh models respectively, and its CLTC range varies between 305 km and 405 km.

The cheap electric car was developed under the moniker “mini Lamborghini” as a project led by former Lamborghini designer Wolfgang Egger.

Despite its affordable price tag, the Seagull’s interior has a minimalist design with a 10.1-inch rotating central screen. Users can also interact with DiLink’s smart network and play media.

BYD Seagull is offered in three different hardware options in China. The base (Active) model starts under $10,000 (322,181 TL). The mid-range has a starting price of $10,500 (£338,365), while the top-end model costs $12,000 (£386,703).

BYD’s affordable electric vehicle attracts attention among competitors. Ford CEO Jim Farley describes the vehicle as a pretty good car. The start of a new competition in Europe creates concern for competitors such as VW and Stellantis.

Despite the customs duties, BYD is expected to offer the Seagull in Europe for less than 20,000 euros (698,708 TL). Additionally, BYD plans to launch another electric car with a higher price of 25,000 euros (873,658 TL) in Europe. In addition, BYD, which plans to establish two factories in the region, aims to reduce the potential effects of EU customs duties on electric cars produced in China.

If this model comes to Turkey, it could be the first electric car under 1 million TL including taxes. What are you thinking? Please don’t forget to share your thoughts with us in the comments section below.
