Stuttgart In the next few years, Porsche will be equipping its iconic 911 sports car with a hybrid drive. “If we think about hybridizing this vehicle, then not in the sense of a plug-in,” said Porsche CEO Oliver Blume in an interview with the Handelsblatt. Rather, it is about a very sporty hybridization, as Porsche is already using in motorsport. The 911 is also part of Porsche’s sustainability strategy. Last year, the Stuttgart-based manufacturer received 50,000 orders for the popular sports car. Not all orders could be processed due to missing chips.
Blume defended the decision that Porsche is involved in the development of synthetic fuels (e-fuels). “We are actually in a pioneering role,” emphasized the CEO. Porsche is helping to create a market for the new e-fuels in the medium term. At a price of less than two US dollars per liter, the new fuel will be affordable for everyone.
