Long-established Football Club Takes Bitcoin Step to “Rise to Unique Levels”

Botev Plovdiv FC, the football team playing in the Parva Liga in Bulgaria, has given the green light to Bitcoin transactions.

The 111-year-old football club offers free services to its fans within the scope of its partnership with Bitcoin payment company BTCPay Server. Peer-to-peer payment with Bitcoin at fan stores started to offer opportunities to do so.

The club’s president, Anton Zingarevich, said the following about the new step they took:

“We think that the more widespread the internet is in our lives, the more common paying with Bitcoin will be. “This integration not only fits our vision, but also provides a unique convenience to our fans.”

The club management plans to accept Bitcoin payments in the sale of match tickets and in its online store in the coming period.

Botev Plovdiv FC’s Bitcoin director, George Manolov, gave the following hint about his future plans:

“At Botev, we are very excited to combine these innovations with sports and leverage their power to take our club to unprecedented levels. “As Bulgaria’s oldest football club, you can expect different pioneering products and initiatives from us.”
