La Liga’s First Team to Accept Cryptocurrency Espanyol
The team signed a sponsorship deal with iGaming Token Crypto Snack today. With this development, Espanyol became the first football team in Spain to accept cryptocurrencies.
Crypto Snack, a crypto ecosystem based on Binance Smart Chain (BSC), claims that 10% of all its tokens will be locked in an environmental fund.
With the sponsorship agreement in question, cryptocurrencies including Bitcoin, Ethereum and SNACK tokens will be accepted as payments for three years at Espanyol’s RCDE Stadium complex in Barcelona. As part of the sponsorship agreement, the Crypto Snack logo will also appear on the team’s jersey.
Antoni Alegre, marketing director of the club, made the following statements on the subject:
“We made an agreement to cover the remainder of the season and three years, in which the Crypto Snack brand will be displayed on the team’s training jersey and A team shorts. We are an entrepreneurial club and we want to be a meeting point for the blockchain industry.”
The CEO of the club, Mao Ye Wu, said in a statement that they are working to have crypto assets accepted as a payment method in their stadiums next season.
