Investor interest in silver weakens

Silver bars are not in demand everywhere

While physical investments in silver have been popular over the past year, interest from institutional investors has waned.

Frankfurt Institutional investors are currently only showing limited interest in silver: the physically deposited ETF silver holdings are down nearly 16 percent over the past 12 months, from 880,991,935 troy ounces in early June 2022 to 744,333,803 troy ounces on Wednesday. The stocks are considered a trend barometer for the silver price due to their high volume.

Although it rose by around eleven percent over the same period, the precious metal ended the past month down 6.7 percent. “Investors who had hoped for rising prices must continue to be patient,” writes Stabilitas Managing Director and precious metals expert Martin Siegel in a market comment.
