“Important role” of China in the Ukraine conflict

Beijing, Paris China’s head of state and party leader Xi Jinping applauds with satisfaction as Chinese and French business representatives sign contracts together. French President Emmanuel Macron, on the other hand, seems rather sobered.

He had traveled to Beijing with numerous announcements. He wants to persuade China to play a “greater role” in a peace solution in the Ukraine war. He and the top-class business delegation who traveled with him received comprehensive deals. Apparently, however, he did not receive a concession from Xi on Ukraine.

“I know I can count on you to bring Russia back to sanity and everyone around the negotiating table,” Macron appealed to Xi. However, this only repeated the previous Chinese position.

The Chinese government is trying to present itself as a neutral mediator and is calling for negotiations. However, it has never condemned the Russian invasion of Ukraine and maintains its close partnership with Russia.
