Hungary Statue of Satoshi Nakamoto, Inventor of Bitcoin

Hungary became the first country to erect a statue in honor of the mysterious Bitcoin inventor, Satoshi Nakamoto. The statue was unveiled at Graphisoft Park in Budapest, Hungary, with the participation of a large crowd of Bitcoin supporters. The founders of the Satoshi Nakamoto statue believe that “his work is truly something to remember”.

The life-size shiny bronze bust was sculpted by Gergely Réka and Tamás Gilly. The duo had published a rough sketch of the statue in June, aimed at capturing the idea of ”we are all Satoshi”. To remind people of the important role they played with Satoshi in Bitcoin, the details of the statue are faded and as bright as a mirror.

As Satoshi’s gender, height and weight were unknown, it was quite difficult to create a descriptive statue. A unisex faceless head-to-chest illustration has become a better alternative. In the statue, Satoshi is wearing a hoodie with the popular Bitcoin logo ‘B’.

The Mystery of Satoshi Nakamoto

Since publishing the Bitcoin White Paper, numerous theories have been put forward to reveal the true identity of Satoshi Nakamoto. Developer Hal Finney was linked to Satoshi Nakamoto as he was the first to use the software, file bug reports and suggest improvements. He was also the first person Satoshi sent Bitcoin as a test.

In 2014, Dorian Satoshi Nakamoto was mistakenly identified as the inventor of Bitcoin.

Later, people like Australian entrepreneur Craig Wright claimed to be Satoshi. The Bitcoin SV (hard fork of Bitcoin) founder even provided technical proof of this, but this was disproved in theory. Moreover, it was alleged that the CIA and NSA secretly created Bitcoin.

On the last point, however, the identity of Bitcoin’s anonymous developer(s) remains largely unclear.
