Munich Human Resources Director Amanda Rajkumar is leaving the Franconian sporting goods group Adidas after only two and a half years. The 51-year-old Brit is leaving the board on July 15, as Adidas announced on Wednesday. Her contract would have expired at the end of the year and she did not want to extend it.

Her predecessor Karen Parkin had stumbled across the heated debate on racism after the death of African-American George Floyd in the United States. US employees had accused her of downplaying the issue.

Under Rajkumar’s aegis, Adidas has “made great progress in promoting a profound culture of inclusion and improving leadership skills,” said Thomas Rabe, Chairman of the Supervisory Board.

The head of HR is the third departure from the board after Adidas boss Björn Gulden took office. Sales director Roland Auschel and brand boss Brian Grevy had already left in March. Rajkumar’s duties are to be taken over temporarily by Michelle Robertson. However, she should not join the board of directors.
