How Russia reacts to Ukrainian counter-offensive

Berlin Shots of clouds of smoke and rockets flying – sirens wailed again across Ukraine on Friday evening. After an operational break, Russia resumed its attacks a few days ago. And according to its own statements, it is concentrating primarily on the destruction of long-range and artillery weapons in Ukraine.

The Russian defense minister made this known during his second visit to the combat zone: Sergei Shoigu had already traveled to the front for the first time at the end of June. Now he arrived again on Saturday for a visit.

Footage from a Russian news channel shows him in a building taking notes, pointing to a map and finally handing out awards: Colonel-General Alexander Lapin and Major-General Esedulla Abachev are named “Heroes of Russia”. Lapin is said to have been responsible for the conquest of the Sieverodonetsk-Lysychansk conurbation in the Donbass.
