How financial institutions are preparing for a possible electricity blackout

Frankfurt The coldest season is approaching – and the energy crisis is fueling growing concerns about power shortages or even power outages. The tense energy situation is also putting German financial institutions under pressure – and putting them into economy mode.

In order to reduce their energy consumption, banks therefore resort to the most obvious means: they switch off their outdoor lighting. A reduction in temperature and other emergency plans are also part of the measures. This was the result of a survey of the most important German financial institutions.

Since August, both Deutsche Bank and Commerzbank have been switching off illuminated outdoor advertising on their skyscrapers overnight. According to their own information, DZ Bank, Hypovereinsbank (HVB) and Berliner Sparkasse also switched off their illuminated advertising systems at night.
