Smartphone battery caught fire due to overheating!

When we look at the details of the news shared by DGCA, a cabin crew member noticed sparks from the phone of one of the passengers during a flight organized by IndiGo airline. It is stated that the device caught fire and left the plane under heavy smoke until he brought the fire extinguisher.

Although the news that the smartphone battery caught fire on the plane was claimed to be unfounded, the event was confirmed, according to the news later shared by official sources. It was reported that no one was injured during the fire and the plane landed safely.

After the incident, it is stated that during the conversation with the passenger who owns the device, the battery overheated and this caused the device to catch fire. However, it was said that the flight continued as planned thanks to cabin crew members who intervened early and landed safely at Delhi airport around 12:45 p.m. on Thursday.

In the official statement made by IndiGo airlines, it was said:

This incident occurred due to abnormal heating of a mobile device battery during flight 6E 2037 from Dibrugarh to Delhi. The crew is trained to handle all dangerous events. In this way, they quickly managed the situation. There was no damage to any passengers or belongings on the plane other than the device.
