Germany has a unique historical responsibility to help Ukraine

Germany has a unique historical responsibility to help defend a free and sovereign Ukraine.

Europe’s central power is also uniquely qualified to articulate a broader European response aimed at ending Vladimir Putin’s criminal war on terrorism in a way that deters possible future aggression against Taiwan, for example.

In order to live up to this double commitment from the past and for the future, the German government should not only commit to sending Leopard 2 tanks to countries like Poland and Finland at the meeting of the Ukraine contact group for defense issues in Ramstein this Friday from German production to the Ukraine, but also to do this ourselves in a coordinated European action. Let’s call it the European Leopard plan.
