The decision comes a day after Bankman-Fried signed extradition papers in the Bahamas, where he lives in a multimillion-dollar mansion, after he hesitated to make a decision since his first hearing last week.

At a hearing last week, Bankman-Fried refused to waive her right to appeal extradition to the United States.

However, multiple sources on the matter said before the hearing to be held on Monday, Bankman-Fried has changed his stance and is ready to waive his extradition request to be detained in the United States.

In addition to criminal charges, Bankman-Fried is facing related civil lawsuits from the Securities and Exchange Commission and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission.
