One of the leading exchanges Gate.io‘s Twitter account has been hacked. The attackers announced that they will draw 500,000 USDT with the fake site they shared. On the fake site opened by the attackers, it was stated that users should connect a metamask or similar wallet.
Gate.io, which has about one million members, was hacked for an unknown reason for now. The attackers took over the official Twitter account and organized a fake lottery.
The attacker made this move very carefully and changed the domain named “gate.io” in the description section to “gąte.com”. The domain in question also contained a fake character “ą” and went to xn--gte-ipa com. Of course, this site was set up by fraudsters.
The fake site in question contained the information that a lottery worth 500,000 USDT was organized. It was also stated that the lottery would be distributed among 1000 people.
Stating that they need a wallet to distribute the gift, the site has set up a system to steal users’ assets.

Blockchain researcher Peckshield also described the attack. confirmed and warned against fraud. According to Peckshield, the attackers are using a mechanism to access all the data.
