Ethereum Miner Returns $23.7 Million Incorrectly Paid!

A wallet owned by cryptocurrency exchange Bitfinex paid a total of $23.7 million in transaction fees for a $100,000 Tether transfer to DeversiFi exchange’s wallet.

Although the cost of Ethereum transactions is always talked about, the transfer transaction that took place yesterday went down in history as the highest paid transaction to date.

A DeversiFi spokesperson stated in his statement on the subject that this was an erroneous transaction and that they were investigating to determine how this happened and that no client funds in DeversiFi were at risk.

The miner of the block, which was paid a transaction fee of 23.7 million dollars by mistake, decided to return almost all the funds.

Earlier in the day, DeversiFi exchange shared that he thanked the miner on his Twitter account, who returned the transaction fee.

Bitfinex’s Chief Technology Officer, Paolo Ardoino, said: “We thank the miner for being proactive and fair. And thanks to Binance for helping contact us. Funds have been returned to the source address.” said.
