Dusseldorf EnBW boss Frank Mastiaux sounds the alarm with a view to the coming winter: “We definitely have to save energy wherever we can. And there’s a lot more to do – without that resulting in a loss of quality of life,” said the head of the energy company in an interview with the Handelsblatt. Everyone, consumers and businesses, must make a contribution.

In any case, the energy manager considers the criticism of the request by Federal Minister of Economics Robert Habeck that citizens should take shorter showers to be “out of place”. Rather, he calls for more appeals from politicians. “We can and must do more with a proper campaign that encourages citizens to save energy,” said Mastiaux. He believes that there is a real risk that companies would otherwise have to stop production and disrupt supply chains.
