Google Drive is ending support for Windows 8 and 8.1. Google will also not offer the Drive app for 32-bit operating systems.

Note that if you have a computer with version 21H2, you will not receive support after June. This means you won’t get new features and you may experience security vulnerabilities. Although Microsoft says it will offer automatic upgrades to some workstations, you have to manually update your computer.

After the update, you can switch to either Windows 11 or Windows 10 22H2. We think support for 22H2 will continue for a while and will be removed from next year.

Similar decisions have been made for Windows 8 and 8.1 for a while. Finally, Google’s cloud storage service Drive’s Windows 8 and 8.1 announced that it will retire the app.
