After a court in Melbourne upheld his objection to the refusal of entry, tennis star Novak Djokovic immediately started training. Djokovic posted a photo on social media late Monday evening (local time) showing him with his trainer Goran Ivanisevic in the Rod Laver Arena. “I am satisfied and grateful that the judge has withdrawn the cancellation of my visa. Regardless of what happened, I want to stay and try to play, ”wrote Djokovic.
“That’s what I stay focused on. I flew here to play in one of the most important events we have and in front of the great fans, ”wrote the 34-year-old Serb, who has already won the Australian Open nine times.
However, it is still not clear whether Djokovic will actually be allowed to start at the Australian Open that starts next Monday. The Australian Minister of Immigration can withdraw his visa again.
