Dusseldorf, Berlin While consumers are suffering from record electricity prices, operators of wind and solar farms have every reason to be happy. Because they mostly sell their green electricity at current market prices, they benefit from the high spot market prices – and not too little.

Thanks to the so-called “sliding market premium model”, the companies are on the one hand secured by the state in terms of prices. However, if prices rise, the operators can reap the profits themselves. Consumers have been paying for the EEG via their electricity bill for 20 years now. They, in turn, do not share in the profits.
