These 30 seconds are worth over 10 million euros …
Does he do it or does he not? This is the question the viewer asks himself when he sees the sixth episode of “The Outlaws” (BBC) sees in the Oscar winner Christopher Walken (78) reaches for the paint roller.
The scene: Walken stands in front of a graffiti wall in the English city of Bristol and asks several times whether he should also paint over the graffiti with the rat and the red lettering. The Bond villain plays an old man who has been given community service.
“It’s really good,” says Walken. His supervisor’s announcement: “Discuss less, paint more!”
Walken shrugs and paints over – a REAL Banksy!
And the funniest thing about this scene: the world-famous anonymous mural artist was initiated!
The series writer, Stephen Merchant, 46, had contacted Banksy’s team in the hope that he would get involved in the scene.
The street artist, about whom little is known except that he is also from Bristol, surprised the team by secretly painting a wall on the film set. And when his work of art was discovered by the creators, he had only one condition: Walken himself should paint over his famous rat and his name.
The art rebel is a fan of his works being destroyed. Legendary: when he shredded his “Love is in the Bin” live after an auction in 2018.
There was disbelief in the auction room. Just like this excerpt from the BBC series.
Because: Banksy’s works are worth millions. Only a few days ago the “Sunflowers from Petrol Station” were auctioned for 12.5 million dollars.
