Frankfurt – The book fair dominated the debate about the status of the Nazi publishing house “Junge Europa”. Now Prime Minister Volker Bouffier (69, CDU) is very worried about the future of the figurehead in Frankfurt, warned at the Hessian Entrepreneurs’ Day in Wiesbaden: “We have already lost the auto show, now we don’t want to lose the book fair as well.”
Two years ago, the auto show – by far the number 1 visitor magnet – left Frankfurt after years of discussion and moved to Munich. The book fair has been number 2 so far – it was canceled last year due to Corona and took place last week as a light version. Only 2000 of the otherwise 7000 exhibitors came to the Main metropolis. And that, so you hear, not just because of Corona.
