Domestic UAV engine PD170 completed and delivered!

First established in 1985 for the production of the F-16 engine in Turkey, TEI (TUSAŞ Engine Industries) is currently focused on producing engines for UAVs for its umbrella company, TUSAŞ (Turkish Aerospace Industries). At the top of the list is the domestic UAV engine PD170 is coming.

The development and acceptance activities of the PD170 engine, which started to be developed for ANKA UAVs in 2013, have been completed. Although it was originally designed for ANKA and AKSUNGUR UAV-SİHA models, Bayraktar TB3s to be used in TCG Anadolu will also use this engine.

40+ domestic UAV engines PD170 were produced!

TEI Chairman of the Board and General Manager Prof. Dr. According to the statements made by Mahmut Faruk Akşit in the past period, there are currently more than 40 domestic UAV engines. PD170 produced. Although TUSAŞ ordered 40 units for ANKA and AKSUNGUR, more than one number of Bayraktar TB3 was delivered to Baykar.

In addition, it was developed by TEI. PD180ST and PD222ST 180 and 220 horsepower engines are expected to be used in SİHA platforms similar to AKINCI in the coming period. Of course, the studies are not limited to these.

TAI announced: ANKA UAV will be produced outside of Turkey!

TAI announced: ANKA UAV will be produced outside of Turkey!

TUSAŞ General Manager Temel Kotil said that ANKA UAVs will be sold to Kazakhstan and produced at the facility to be opened there.

TEI also runs part and module production and licensed engine programs. It is also very advanced in assembly and design engineering. However, the number of domestic and national engines developed in-house is also quite high.

Among active projects TS1400, PD170, PD180ST, PD222ST, TJ300, TJ90, PG50, PG50S, TP38 and TJ35 programs such as Of course, it should be noted that these are not only developed for UAVs. for example TJ300is being developed for medium-range anti-ship missiles. TS1400 and will give power to Gökbey.

But for now, let’s point out that the priority is PD170. Because this engine is considered the best in its class among its competitors all over the world. It will also be the biggest support against possible engine embargoes to be implemented in the future.

In addition, we see that TEI is becoming more assertive in terms of engines day by day. So much so that they say that they can develop an engine for the National Combat Aircraft that can produce the same power as the Pratt & Whitney F119 (F119-PW-100 variant) engine used in the F-22, that is, with a thrust of 35,000 pounds.
