Does the high fuel price help the climate?

Dusseldorf The 43 million motorists in Germany have to dig deep into their pockets: in mid-March, a liter of premium petrol cost more than 2.20 euros. At the beginning of the year, the fuel was still available for 1.65 euros. Why is that? And will we soon even have to pay three euros for it?

Handelsblatt editor Michael Scheppe discusses these questions in the current episode of Handelsblatt Green with Jürgen Albrecht, fuel expert from the automobile club ADAC.

Politicians are currently discussing various measures to counteract the high energy costs – from mobility allowances to fuel discounts. In the second part of the episode, Green politician Ingrid Nestle evaluates the various proposals. It provides an assessment of whether the high price of fuel will lead to the traffic turnaround accelerating.
