I’m a professional waxer – exactly how long you need to wait before having sex & why should avoid that coffee before

A BEAUTY expert has listed the Dos and Don’ts to keep in mind when going for a wax – and if you were thinking about enjoying a cup of coffee before heading to the appointment, best put it down.

Like with most beauty procedures, there are things to do – and ones to avoid – when getting your body hair waxed professionally.

To ensure there are no issues and you leave smooth like a baby, one guru, Bare Bonita, took to TikTok to reveal what’s totally okay before waxing and what may cause some trouble.

According to the licensed aesthetician, beauty lovers should exfoliate before their appointment – this, she said in her video, should be done 24-48 hours before the treatment.

To ensure your pores are softened, Bare Bonita also advised to shower beforehand, preferably in warm water.

It may be tempting to give your body hair a little trim – but for the ultimate results the whizz insisted to wait a little longer.

The ideal time, according to the expert, is around two to three weeks before you’re scheduled for the wax.

Another tip was ditching the knickers and going commando, especially after the appointment.

Woman’s Day recently chatted to professional waxers who advised to opt for loose bottoms and going commando – this little wardrobe trend will be more comfortable than squeezing into tight jeans.

In terms of how often you should see the waxer, Bare Bonita, who posts under the username @barebonita, told her followers to book every four weeks.

Just as key is aftercare – this is important for preventing any nasty ingrown hairs.

The pro, from New York, the US, also listed a number of Dont’s to be aware – and it’s bad news if you’re a coffee lover.

One of them, the 33-year-old said, was using numbing cream to make the painful process less unpleasant.

”The numbing creams are greasy and need to be completely washed off the skin and hair before waxing so they don’t interfere with the binding of the wax. Also, some numbing creams have ingredients that you may be allergic to,” explained one whizz, Dr. Bailey.

Bare Bonita also urged fellow beauty enthusiasts to not book their appointments during period if possible.

However, if your period’s suddenly surprised you with a visit, wear a menstrual cup – since waxing your intimate parts involves removing panties, a pad won’t provide you with a proper protection.

Got a wax to rush to? The New York-based expert also told her fans to avoid caffeine and alcohol.

Coffee, research shows, contains stimulants that can actually make your skin more sensitive, whereas a cheeky boozy beverage will dehydrate you, making your pores retract.

Another no-no was going for a swim, enjoying a sauna or a jacuzzi – and even sex is off limits a day before your scheduled visit.

Sadly, however frisky you’re feeling, sex is also best avoided 24 – 48 hours after too, as your skin is still susceptible to bacteria.

Similarly to exploring all the latest sex positions, hitting the gym is also best avoided before getting a wax, as it will cause your skin to sweat.
