Cologne It is a great success for the Frankfurt Public Prosecutor’s Office: After years of investigation, they were able to arrest the former manager of a bank in the Cum-Ex affair. According to information from the Handelsblatt, it is a man who used to be the manager of the German subsidiary of the Benelux bank Fortis. Fortis now belongs to the Dutch institute ABN Amro.
The accused is a German citizen. He had already fled to the Netherlands a few years ago and finally deregistered there. The target investigators of the Federal Criminal Police Office have now been able to track him down on the Spanish island of Mallorca. His arrest was based on an international arrest warrant because of the obvious risk of absconding.
