Crypto King Barry Silbert Officially Left His Position at Grayscale!

Barry Silbert, also known as the “crypto king”, and Mark Murphy, who is close to him, resigned from the board of Grayscale Investments. Thus, important changes in the leadership of Grayscale Bitcoin Trust have officially begun.

With Silbert’s departure, Grayscale announced its new staff by adding Mark Shifke, Matthew Kummell and Edward McGee to its board of directors.

Shifke, who is preparing to become the new Chairman of the Board, has more than thirty years of experience in finance and fintech. He previously held CFO positions at Billtrust and Green Dot Corporation, where he played a key role in financial operations and strategy.

His expertise also extends to high-risk financial transactions and strategy, with a focus on M&A and capital markets as a Managing Director at JPMorgan Chase and a Vice President at Goldman Sachs. Earlier in his career, Shifke served as a Principal at KPMG US and a Partner at Davis Polk & Wardwell LLP.

Although Grayscale is a widely mentioned company in the cryptocurrency world, especially Bitcoin, it has struggled with legal complexities involving its parent company, Digital Currency Group.

As we reported as Koinfinans.com, the New York Attorney General filed a lawsuit accusing the firm of failing to adequately disclose the risks associated with a crypto lending program launched in 2021. Silbert, who resigned as Grayscale’s CEO in 2021, was also included in the case.
