Court appoints KPMG again as auditor

The real estate group has been looking for a new auditor for months. Now there is hope.

Berlin, Dusseldorf The months-long search by the real estate group Adler Group for an auditor could come to an end. The Berlin-Charlottenburg district court has appointed KPMG as the auditor for the 2022 financial year of the Berlin subsidiary Adler Real Estate, as the group announced on Monday. However, KPMG can refuse the order.

The choice fell on the auditing company that had resigned the mandate for the Adler audit last May. Another sentence in the Adler release indicates how difficult the relationship between the group and KPMG is: “The company has no knowledge of whether KPMG AG Wirtschaftsprüfungsgesellschaft will accept the audit mandate.”

KPMG initially only briefly commented on the court’s decision in the early evening: “KPMG has not received a corresponding decision from the Charlottenburg District Court,” said a spokesman. The audit firm has a turbulent past in common with Adler.
