Container shortages continue to worsen after Christmas

Dusseldorf German retailers and industrial customers, who had expected an end to the global delivery delays after the tense Christmas business, are having to bury their hopes these days. This is the result of a global data comparison that the Swiss forwarding group Kuehne + Nagel (K+N) intends to publish daily starting this Thursday under the title “Global Disruption Indicator”.

The figures, which are available to the Handelsblatt in advance, are still characterized by a tight supply situation. According to the statistics, there are currently even more shipping containers waiting in front of the world’s ports than before Christmas. “The situation is by no means getting any better,” explains K+N board member Otto Schacht, “even though Christmas is now over.”
