Frankfurt The Public Prosecutor’s Office in Frankfurt am Main has sold cryptocurrencies worth around 100 million euros, which had been seized from criminals, as part of a new cooperation. This was made possible by working with the Sheikh bank, which sold the coins in the week up to December 20, 2021.
According to the public prosecutor’s office, the crypto values were secured and confiscated from three suspects in an “extensive investigation”. In July, the criminals were sentenced to several years’ imprisonment for gang trafficking in narcotics.
Because the perpetrators had waived the surrender of the various crypto currencies, these had become the property of the State of Hesse. The Central Office for Combating Internet Crime (ZIT) was responsible for the investigation.
