Computer turns on, no screen! Here are the solutions

Our computers can malfunction for many reasons. But when they don’t work the way we want, that doesn’t mean they’re broken. Sometimes we can solve the problems by updating, sometimes by changing the cables, and sometimes by the close-open method. Many users may experience problems such as the computer boots up but the screen does not come on. So what’s the solution?

Why does the computer turn on but the screen does not come on?

We may encounter errors when we assemble a new computer or on our device that we have been using for a long time without any problems. In such cases, the first step is to identify the source of the problem. Then we can make the necessary interventions.

If the computer boots but the screen does not come on, there may be 2 different reasons. First of all, there is no image output from your computer. In this case, the problem is in the case, not the monitor. In the second time, we may not be able to get an image even though the computer is working properly. In this case, the problem is either in the cable or in the monitor itself. Here are the possible problems and solutions…

Monitor malfunction!

• Make sure your monitor is electrically connected.
• Even if the monitor is not connected to the computer, turn it on by pressing the power button on it.
• If there is no image or brand logo on the screen, your monitor may be malfunctioning. In this case, try turning on your computer with a second monitor.
• If your monitor is displaying properly only when plugged in, continue to the next step.

Cables and connections!

• Be sure to provide the connections to the outlet.
• Make sure the cable between the case and the monitor is strong and connected.
• If the monitor is working, try with a 2nd cable.
• Try other ports and other cable types such as HDMI and Display Port in case there is a problem with the port.
• If you are sure that there is no problem with cables, connections, input-output sockets and monitor, move on to the other topic.

Graphics card failure!

• If you have verified that there is no problem with your monitor and cables, it is time to check the video card.
• Check the outputs of the video card on the back of the case and try to connect the monitor using different ports.
• If the problem persists, open the case and make sure that the video card is fully seated in the motherboard slot. You can take it off and put it on if needed.
• Make sure that the cables from the PSU (power supply) to the video card are properly connected.

General component failure!

• If the computer does not turn on, a malfunction may have occurred in all components, especially the PSU and the motherboard.
• If the computer boots up, your video card or if you are not using an external video card, your processor may be corrupted.
• Similarly, RAM, motherboard and case ports may be corrupted.
• If you have tried all the above titles and there is no problem with the monitor and cables, but there is no image, you should connect it to other systems to make sure that the components in your device are working.
• If you do not have a second system, you should contact the service.
