Comment – Leave Kimmich alone! – Politics

It was the great promise of politics: The corona vaccination remains voluntary.

But “voluntarily” also means respecting the free will of those who do not want to be vaccinated.

The shameful treatment of the unvaccinated footballer Joshua Kimmich shows how things stand.

Politicians treat Kimmich’s private decision like a state affair.

Government spokesman Steffen Seibert hopes for a rethink simply because of the “role model effect” of Kimmich. The newly elected President of the Bundestag Bärbel Bas even wants to meet Kimmich “for coffee” to convince him of the vaccination.

These nicely worded expressions of hope are nothing more than tough vaccination pressure.

Instead of urging a healthy, 26-year-old professional athlete to be vaccinated, the state should act as a role model and protect those who want and most urgently need the protection of the state.

Those who were neglected last winter and died of Corona: seniors, people with previous illnesses, residents of old people’s homes.
