CD PROJEKT RED has detonated the bomb: new blood in the Witcher franchise!

CD PROJEKT RED announced that a new one will be added to The Witcher games with its sharing today. He said that the production was developed with Unreal Engine 5, when the work started. He also stated that a new technology partnership has been established with Epic Games.

The Witcher star is open to new game adaptations!

Henry Cavill, the lead role of The Witcher series, is open to new game adaptations. The successful actor listed the productions he wanted to play.

New Witcher game is coming after 7 years

The developer of the game, CD PROJEKT RED, released The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, the third game of the 250 Game of the Year award-winning series in 2015, which connects us with the Hearts of Stone and Blood & Wine DLCs.

According to the statement, the popular series will be put to an end. But a new story set in the same universe will welcome us. In addition, this production will be in the AAA RPG genre like its predecessors. In the promotional image of the new game, there is a medallion just above the phrase “A New Saga Begins”. But quite different from that of Geralt and his friends.

Since The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings released in 2011, CD PROJEKT RED has used proprietary REDengine technology to create its games. However, the company stated that they will switch to Unreal Engine 5 in accordance with the agreement with Epic Games in the upcoming series.

Also, this new relationship with Epic will cover not just licensing but technical development of Unreal Engine 5 and, where relevant, potential future versions of Unreal Engine. That’s why the CD PROJEKT RED team will coordinate with the Epic team, starting with the development of the next title in the Witcher series, while adapting the game engine for open world experiences.

Making a statement on the subject, Pawel Zawodny, CTO of CD PROJEKT RED, said:

One of the key aspects of our internal RED 2.0 Transformation is a much stronger focus on technology. Our collaboration with Epic Games is based on this principle. From the start, we didn’t want a typical licensing arrangement. Both we and Epic see this as a long-term, satisfying technology partnership.

It is vital for CD PROJEKT RED to decide on the technical aspect of our next game from the earliest possible stage. In the past, we’ve spent a lot of resources and energy developing and adapting REDengine with each subsequent game release. This collaboration is very exciting because it will increase development predictability and efficiency while simultaneously giving us access to the latest game development tools. I’m looking forward to the amazing games we’ll be creating using Unreal Engine 5!

Tim Sweeney, Founder and CEO of Epic Games, said the following about the CD PROJEKT RED partnership:

Epic is building Unreal Engine 5 to enable teams to create dynamic open worlds of unprecedented scale and accuracy. We are honored by the opportunity to partner with CD PROJEKT RED to push the boundaries of interactive storytelling and gameplay together, and this effort will benefit the developer community for years to come.
